Meet Ron Woerman

Hello Everyone, my name is Ron Woerman, and I am a candidate for Alderman At Large for the city of Aurora, IL.

Initially my professional career was in banking, healthcare, and telecommunications with various roles in budgeting, compliance, and accounting.  Today I am an entrepreneur with many successful businesses and investments all located in Aurora.

Due to the 2007-2008 financial crisis, I was forced to make a career change.  I started working as General Manager at O’Malley’s Pub & Eatery located on the far East side.  Along with my business partner, in 2016 we opened Spartan House located on the West side.  Both places are successful and take pride in supporting many charitable causes in the community.   We support youth sports, both East and West Aurora Alumni Foundations, and many other community-based programs.  For the last 10 years O’Malley’s has hosted a Christmas fundraiser in support of Hesed House.  In 2018 I was awarded Humanitarian Of The Year from Hesed House.

Along with 4 other partners, we successfully redeveloped the old West Aurora School district building located at 80S River Street.  This building sat empty for over 4 years.  This building was converted to 21 residential apartments on the second floor and commercial space on the 1st floor.  The apartments are fully leased and currently have a waiting list for potential tenants.  The commercial space is currently 52% leased with the expectation of being fully leased by 4Q 2021.

Old Copley hospital has been vacant and deteriorating for 25+ years.  This has been an eyesore in that neighborhood (and Aurora) for a long time.  Our partnership group (Fox Valley Developers) took on this project that no other company wanted.  This 118-million-dollar project is a daunting task with a planned completion date of spring of 2022.  This project will revitalize the entire neighborhood and generate property taxes which will provide funding for school district 131.

My family represents the diversity that exists in Aurora today.  I have been married to my wife Irasema for 20+ years and we have four beautiful daughters.  Our household is trilingual, and we celebrate our German and Mexican heritage.  I come from a hard-working union family.  My father retired from Caterpillar after 28 years of service.  From my first job at twelve years old working in the corn fields to where I am today, a tenacious work ethic was instilled in me.  I believe my personal life experiences and professional career make me the best candidate to represent the citizens of Aurora.  I would be honored to have the opportunity to do so.
